Please Remember 1987
Longwood Art Center, NYC
A performance and installation about the effects of nuclear radiation. The performance lasted two hours while the audience entered the small closet like room two at a time to encounter a silent woman painted white and bathed in white light raising and lowering a translucent curtain. An army of battery operated mechanical dogs persistently ran into the walls each other and the viewer's feet. Their high pitched bark creating a ceaseless din. As the viewer turned to leave a second performer handed each person a small whitecloth bundle containing a factual quote about nuclear radiation and whispered the words please remember a series of things small or great that would be lost if the world came to an end. ie.. Please remember: roses, the grand canyon, peanut butter
